A buoyancy vest for dogs around water: boats, lakes, pools, and the sea on a calm day. Foam panels sit along the body and under the chest, and a raised float behind the neck helps keep your dog’s head clear of the surface.

A webbing handle runs across the back so you can lift your dog out of the water in one movement, which is the part that matters when a dog is tired or panicking. Two adjustable belly straps buckle underneath, and a D-ring sits on the back.

  1. Open the belly straps and slide the vest over your dog’s head, float side up.
  2. Settle it so the neck float sits behind the head, not against the throat.
  3. Buckle both belly straps and pull them snug. You should be able to slide two fingers underneath, no more.
  4. Lift gently by the handle on dry land to check it holds before any water.

Test the fit in shallow water first, with you in reach. A vest that shifts or rides up needs the straps tightening before it is any use.

The trouble is rarely getting in. It is a tired dog a long way out, a steep bank with nowhere to climb, or a boat side too high to scramble up. That is what the float and the handle are for.

What people ask before the first swim.

No, and we would rather say so plainly. It is a buoyancy aid, not a certified lifesaving device and not a lifeguard. It helps a dog who can already swim stay afloat and be lifted out easily. Your dog still needs you within reach.

This vest is sold in one size, intended for small and medium dogs. There is no size chart from the manufacturer. If your dog is at either extreme, very small, or large and deep-chested, message us with their chest measurement and weight before ordering and we will tell you honestly whether it will fit.

A buoyancy aid is not a swimming lesson. If your dog has never swum, start in shallow water where they can stand, with the vest on and you beside them. Do not put a non-swimming dog into deep water in a buoyancy vest and assume it will cope.

The handle is webbing stitched across the back panel and is intended for lifting. Test it on dry land with your dog’s full weight before you rely on it in water, and check the stitching each time you use it.

On a calm day near the shore, yes. Not in strong currents, surf or offshore. Rinse it with fresh water afterwards, salt degrades the fabric and the buckles over time.

Rinse in fresh water and hang it to air dry. No machine washing, no tumble drying, and keep it off hot radiators. Heat and detergent both break down the foam that makes it float.
